Welcome to the Port of Devonport

The Port of Devonport, one of Tasmania's most successful, is owned and operated by the Port of Devonport Corporation Pty.Ltd. Management is dedicated to providing the user base with highly efficient services and facilities and is committed to encourage business and commercial growth.

Devonport is the only port in Tasmania to have regular scheduled passenger services by sea and air. Proximity to mainland Australia ensures cost savings and easy access facilitates efficient operations associated with cargo, freight and passenger services.

Devonport Airport, also Port Corporation owned and operated, is serviced by Ansett Australia's regional Kendell Airlines, Qantas group's Southern Australian Airlines and Moorabbin (Victoria) based Aus Air. General aviation operator Bass Flight Services is based at Devonport and provides charter services, pilot training, aircraft hire, aerial photography and scenic wilderness flights.

Devonport is home port for the 1300 berth passenger ship 'Spirit of Tasmania' – Australia's only passenger, freight & vehicular service sailing the Melbourne/Devonport crossing three times weekly. Extra sailing's are planned for the 1997/8 peak holiday season.

Devonport's recent entry into the international Cruise Ship/ Tourism market has resulted in recognition of the port as the gateway to Cradle Mountain National Park's northern entrance and the state's exotic wilderness areas. International marketing is done in conjunction with the Devonport City Council, the Australian Tourist Commission and the newly formed Cruising Downunder Association. New Shore Excursions are regularly developed.
