It's not the first location you would think would house a castle, but in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney that is exactly what is on offer.
Situated in the town of Springwood, Bunda Castle, has come onto the market with a price guide of around $4 million.
For that price there is plenty of history, a unique home and a landmark property.
"It's attracting a lot of interest from both local buyers and those further away from Sydney," said co-listing agent Nicole Axiaq of Merrick Property Group.
She said along with looking at the castle as a private home, other potential buyers were looking at commercial use of the impressive home.
"Some are looking at it as a wedding venue or to operate as a boutique hotel," she said.
The landmark property has already had a number of diverse residents and uses since it was first built in the 1880s by Sydney developer and businessman John Lawler.
It has a life as a convent from the 1920s to the 1960s before the current owners bought it in the 1970s.
Since taking hold of the property, the current owners have carefully restored the home and resurrected the vast grounds into a beautifully manicured garden, which cover just under 3 acres.
The restoration of the impressive six-bedroom home was completed in the early 2000s and along with a family home has also operated as a gallery for antiques, fine art and jewellery.
One of the most interesting part of the estate is a stand-along turret-like tower that has two levels and is covered in romantic vines.
The main building is a Victorian sandstone home with the historic interiors beautifully restored.
Original marble fireplaces are still in working order, with five dotted throughout the home.
Architectural highlights include original pressed metal ceilings, lead light windows and wide timber flooring.
A wide verandah provides the perfect spot to relax in warmer months.
It is for sale through an Expressions of Interest campaign.
