If you are wondering where all the profits go from Taylor Swift's meteoric career go - you might want to start with her real estate portfolio.

Not only is the 33-year-old a talented singer, songwriter and entertainer but with one look at the properties she's amassed over her career shows she is also a canny real estate investor.

So much so that globally renowned US financial bible The Wall Street Journal looked into her real estate dealings this year - and found a lot to be impressed with.

In March it found that her collection of homes across the US had a current value of at least $US150 million with all transactions being made through "a variety of trusts and limited liability companies".

The singer got into the property game early - at age 19. It is then that she reportedly paid $US1.99 million for a three-bedroom penthouse in Nashville Tennessee. At the time she also bought a one-bedroom below it for $387,000 according to Vulture magazine.

In 2011 the singer made another purchase in Nashville, but this time it was a little bit fancier. In fact she paid $US2.5 million for a Greek Revival style four-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion.

Taylor Swift's ocean front mansion on Rhode Island, which she bought in 2013 for $US17.75 million, is the scene of her famous Fourth of July parties.

In 2015 Swift reportedly purchased her first home on the US west coast and in the entertainment capital of Los Angeles.

She is said to have paid $U25 million for the former home of golden era of Hollywood name Samuel Goldwyn's one-time home.

The singer has also acquired desirable property in New York including two penthouses in Tribeca in 2014 for $US19.95 million according to reports. She then merged them into one super penthouse apartment.

She bought the apartments from Kiwi director Peter Jackson according to reports.
