Cumberland Council, also known as Cumberland City Council, is a local government area in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was formed on 12 May 2016 from the merger of parts of the Cities of Auburn, Parramatta, and Holroyd. The council covers an area of 72 square kilometres and had a population of 235,439 as of the 2016 census. The first Special Meeting of Cumberland Council took place on 19 May 2016 at the Granville Town Hall, and the council currently meets at the Merrylands Administration Centre. The area formerly known as the City of Holroyd was established in July 1872 and became the City of Holroyd on 1 January 1991, with its administrative center located in Merrylands.
