Estella is located on rolling hills with views over the river, North Wagga and the central business district. There is a range of new homes, established homes and vacant land still being developed.

The suburb boasts the multi-award winning restaurant Magpies Nest, an aged-care facility, medical and dental centre, childcare, a public school and is right next to Charles Sturt University’s Wagga campus. There are also many nice walking tracks through the suburb. The area is popular with university students, families and young professionals getting into the housing market.

Estella is separated from the Wagga Wagga central business district by the Murrumbidgee River with access over the Gobbagombalin Bridge or through North Wagga. Upgrades are being planned for the Olympic Highway to improve traffic flow to and from the CBD.

Currently there are no shopping or petrol stations in the suburb or the surrounding suburbs. These services need to be accessed across the Gobbagombalin Bridge. However, the site for the development of a shopping centre is being developed.
