Lennox Head

Lennox Head may be less insta-famous than neighbouring Byron Bay, but this stunning seaside village in the Northern Rivers is the perfect sea change.

It was established in the 1880s as an agricultural village for timber, dairy and sugar cane and became a thriving town in the 1970s when the coastal road which passes through it was sealed. Now Ballina Street is full of boutiques, cafes, restaurants, post offices and a supermarket.

Whether it be hang gliding from Pat Morton Lookout or watching one of the annual surf championships hosted on the world famous Seven Mile Beach, there’s always something new to do in Lennox Head. The stunning Lake Ainsworth makes a picturesque location for a family day out.

There’s only one primary school in Lennox Head, but a 10 min drive south into Ballina opens up more options with both Catholic and public primary and secondary schools.

A popular holiday spot, Lennox Head can get busy during school holidays. But the rest of the year it’s an oasis of calm.
