Roper Gulf Regional Council is a local government area in the Northern Territory, Australia, covering an area of 185,210 square kilometres. As of June 2018, the population of the region was 7,397. The creation of the Roper-Gulf Shire was part of a larger reform of local government areas in the Northern Territory announced in October 2006. The reform aimed to improve service delivery to towns and communities by establishing eleven new shires, with Roper-Gulf Shire being one of them. The shire was officially created on 1 July 2008 along with the other new shires.
