West Daly Council

West Daly Regional Council is a local government area in the Northern Territory, Australia, covering an area of 14,070 square kilometres. As of June 2018, it had a population of 3,649, with over 90% identifying as Aboriginal. Travel between the main communities of Nganmarriyanga, Peppimenarti, and Wadeye is limited to air during the wet season due to road flooding. The region was established on 1 July 2014 when boundaries were changed with three wards transferred from the Victoria Daly Region. The council is divided into three wards represented by a total of six councillors. In West Daly, the majority of residents rent their homes, with a considerable proportion facing affordability challenges. The area has a youthful population, with a focus on families with children. The top industries include agriculture, retail, and accommodation services.
