Light Council
Light Regional Council is located north of Adelaide in South Australia, with its administrative center in Kapunda. The area includes towns such as Freeling, Greenock, Hansborough, Hewett, Roseworthy, and Wasleys. The council is named after the River Light, which forms part of the council's northwest border and is named after William Light, the first Surveyor-General of South Australia. The council was established on 1 March 1996 through the amalgamation of the District Council of Light and the District Council of Kapunda.
The Light council area has a demographic skew towards older residents, with a notable presence of professionals and trades workers in the workforce. Income distribution leans towards lower brackets. Mortgage affordability is generally good, but rental affordability is a concern for a significant portion of households. Family households are predominantly couples with children, and key industries include agriculture, construction, and real estate services.
