The Shire of Bruce Rock is located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 50 kilometres south of Merredin and 250 kilometres east of Perth. Covering an area of 2,727 square kilometres, the town of Bruce Rock serves as the seat of government for the Shire. Originally established as the East Avon Road District in 1913, it was renamed Bruce Rock in 1918 and became a shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960. In 1999, the Shire underwent changes to its ward structure, replacing several wards with new ones to cover different areas within the region.
