Chittering Council
The Shire of Chittering is located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, covering an area of about 1,200 square kilometres just beyond the northeastern fringe of the Perth metropolitan area. The seat of government for the Shire of Chittering is the town of Bindoon. The area was originally established as the Chittering Brook Road District in 1896, later becoming the Chittering Road District before becoming a shire in 1961. In 2003, wards were abolished throughout the shire, and the 7 councillors now represent all residents in the area.
The Chittering council area is characterized by a strong presence of agriculture, forestry, and fishing industries, along with construction and transport sectors. The majority of occupied private dwellings are owned outright or by purchasers, with a significant proportion of residents working as technicians and trades workers.
