The Shire of Collie is located in the South West region of Western Australia, approximately 60 kilometres east of Bunbury and 200 kilometres south of Perth. Covering an area of 1,711 square kilometres, the town of Collie serves as the seat of government for the Shire. The Shire of Collie was formed on 2 March 1951 through the amalgamation of the Municipality of Collie and the Collie Road District, officially becoming a shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960.
