The Shire of Cue is located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, approximately 420 kilometres east-northeast of Geraldton and 650 kilometres north-northeast of Perth. Covering an area of 13,623 square kilometres, the Shire's seat of government is in the town of Cue. The area was originally established as the Cue Road District on December 6, 1895, and underwent several name changes over the years. The Cue Road District included the Cue and Day Dawn townships, which were part of the Municipality of Cue and the Municipality of Day Dawn.
