The Shire of Dumbleyung is located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 40 kilometres east of Wagin and 275 kilometres southeast of Perth. Covering an area of 2,540 square kilometres, the Shire is involved in grain and livestock production, as well as various biodiversity industries. The town of Dumbleyung serves as the seat of government for the Shire. The area was originally established as the Dumbleyung Road District on 1 October 1909, and later became a Shire on 1 July 1961 following the enactment of the Local Government Act 1960.
