The Shire of Kent is located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, approximately 320 kilometres southeast of Perth. The Kent Road District was established in 1922 and later renamed the Nyabing-Pingrup Road District in 1955 before becoming the Shire of Nyabing-Pingrup in 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960.
