The Shire of Kondinin is located in the eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 300 kilometres east of Perth. Covering an area of 7,376 square kilometres, it is situated between the Shire of Narembeen to the north and the Shire of Kulin to the south. The town of Kondinin serves as the seat of government for the Shire. The area was originally established as the Kondinin Road District on 15 May 1925, before being declared a shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960.
