The Shire of Koorda is located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 240 kilometres northeast of Perth. Covering an area of 2,836 square kilometres, the seat of government for the Shire is the town of Koorda. The Shire was originally gazetted as the Koorda Road District on 18 November 1927, before becoming a Shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960. The Shire of Koorda does not have wards, but is represented by seven councillors.
