Menzies Council

The Shire of Menzies is a local government area in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located north of Kalgoorlie. It covers an area of 124,635 square kilometres (48,122 sq mi) with its seat of government in the town of Menzies. The Shire originated as the Menzies Road District in 1912 and became a shire in 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960. It is divided into three wards: Menzies Ward, Kookynie Ward, and Ularring Ward. The Shire of Menzies has 44 heritage-listed places, with 13 on the State Register of Heritage Places. In Menzies, 55.6% of households have rent payments less than 30% of income, while 18.5% have payments exceeding 30%. The top industries are agriculture, manufacturing, and construction. Family households are mainly childless couples, couples with children, and single parents. The population is distributed across various age groups, with a notable presence of individuals aged 20-39. The most common occupations are machinery operators, technicians, professionals, labourers, and managers.
