Morawa Council

The Shire of Morawa is located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, approximately 170 kilometres east-southeast of Geraldton and 390 kilometres north of Perth. Covering an area of 3,516 square kilometres, the town of Morawa serves as the seat of government for the Shire. The Shire of Morawa was originally established as the Morawa Road District on 27 April 1928, before becoming a shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960. In 2009, there were discussions about amalgamating the Shires of Mingenew, Three Springs, Morawa, and Perenjori into a new entity named Billeranga, but the proposal was ultimately defeated in a referendum in 2011. Morawa council area exhibits a mix of family households, with childless couples, couples with children, and single parents being prominent.
