Perenjori Council

The Shire of Perenjori is located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, approximately 360 kilometres north of Perth. Covering an area of 8,313 square kilometres, the town of Perenjori serves as the seat of government for the Shire. The Shire of Perenjori was originally established as the Perenjori Road District on 27 April 1928, before becoming a shire on 1 July 1961 under the Local Government Act 1960. In 2009, there were discussions about amalgamating the Shires of Mingenew, Three Springs, Morawa, and Perenjori into a new entity named Billeranga, but the proposal was defeated in a referendum in April 2011. Perenjori council area has a varied demographic profile, with a notable concentration of individuals aged above 50. The housing landscape is characterized by a high percentage of outright ownership and purchasers. The dominant industries include agriculture, forestry, and fishing, as well as rental and real estate services.
