It’s the only city in the ACT, which led the regional ranking. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development ranked 362 regions of its 34 member nations in its survey, using nine measures of wellbeing, including income, education, jobs, safety, health and environment.
Living near the CBD has become more desirable although all suburbs have access to beautiful areas, shops and urban centres.
Well served by several highways, the greenery and the parliament add to a well-laid out city designed around Lake Burley Griffin. With a shoreline of 40.5km, it’s Canberra's centrepiece and several national institutions, parks and public places are located on its shores with activities such as sailing, rowing, walking and cycling.
Canberra is also known for its mid-century design, public art and architecture such as the National Museum and National Art Gallery of Australia.
There’s a similar proportion of preschoolers and retirees although the young workforce (ages 25 to 34) has increased significantly.
