Avalon Beach

Avalon on the upper reaches of Sydney’s northern beaches is the place to move to when you are looking for a sea change but don’t want to leave the confines of the harbour city. While there are numerous beachside suburbs in Sydney, there is a definite laid back holiday tow vibe to Avalon. Start the day at the surfside cafe of the Beach House, before stopping in for a dip. Or wander through the streets of Avalon village, the local shopping strip just 300metres from the beach, which has a wide selection of cafes, boutiques and a large supermarket nearby. Families with children love the area and its homes on large blocks. The dominate the suburb, however there are a smaller number of apartments close to the beach. Its distance from the CBD - 40 kilometres by road - has deterred some of those who work in the city centre in the past. However an Express bus, and working from home movement make it an option for more.
