The Shire of Diamantina is a local government area located in Central West Queensland, bordering South Australia and the Northern Territory. The administrative centre of the region is in the town of Bedourie. The area covers a total land area of 94,731 square kilometres, making it the second largest local government area in the state. The shire was established in the year 1879 and is named after Lady Diamantina Bowen, the wife of Sir George Bowen, the first governor of Queensland.
