Richmond is a historic town located in the north-west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is situated in the local government area of City of Hawkesbury and is part of the Sydney Metropolitan area. The town is positioned 20 metres above sea level on the alluvial Hawkesbury River flats, at the base of the Blue Mountains. Richmond is approximately 65 km by road from Sydney and is in close proximity to Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Lithgow, and Windsor. As part of the Sydney urban area, Richmond offers a range of amenities including shopping malls, schools, TAFE, university, post office, restaurants, railway station, cafes, hotels, and supermarkets.
