Just 19km east of Melbourne's CBD and with every service and amenity imaginable within a convenient distance, it's easy to see why the local Chinese community reportedly refer to this as the centre of the universe. An ethnically diverse population consists of only 31 percent who were born in Australia, followed by over 15 percent born in China, then India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong SAR also high on the list, plus others. The main street of Kings Way is now a vibrant dining and entertainment area, which seems to benefit greatly from the local Asian influences. Sport is also diverse, but AFL is just as ubiquitous here as anywhere. There’s also swimming with the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre, plus many other activities and facilities nearby. Transport wise it lends its name to the Glen Waverley railway line taking people into the city, plus there are multiple bus routes and roads to take you anywhere. There are also public and private schools aplenty, and its own TAFE campus. Monash University’s Clayton Campus is seriously close by too.
