The Shire of Indigo is a local government area in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia, covering an area of 2,040 square kilometres. As of August 2021, it had a population of 17,368 and includes the towns of Beechworth, Chiltern, Rutherglen, and Yackandandah. Formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of several shires, the Indigo Shire Council governs and administers the area, with its headquarters located in Beechworth. The Shire is named after the Indigo Valley and Indigo Creek, which flow through the region into the Murray River.
