Mildura
On the edge of the Australian outback and an oasis by the Murray River, Mildura offers endless sunshine
Sunny Mildura - if you like warm weather then this could be the Victorian town for you.
Situated on The Murray River, Mildura is a tourism destination as well as being described as Victoria’s ‘food bowl’ producing oranges, grapes and other fruits by the truck load.
With a population of around 35,000 people Mildura is a major hub for the Sunraysia region and offers solid shopping with Woolworths, Coles, Big W, JB Hifi, Adairs and Target in residence as well as other national fashion brands.
Since early settlement Mildura has been home to artists, writers and creative people and there are varied festivals throughout the year. It also offers all the sports you could imagine with a huge motor sport following and a horse racing club, harness racing club and several golf courses.
For some the appeal here could be the isolation, but for others the distance from Melbourne (550kms) or Adelaide (400kms) could be challenging.
Distances to capital cities here though mean a variety of educational institutions in the township with three secondary colleges available plus a TAFE and the La Trobe University.
