Rapidly expanding Tarneit offers affordable, family living in Melbourne’s outer-west
Tarneit is a rapidly expanding new suburb in Melbourne’s outer-west, conveniently located about 25 kilometres from the central business district.
The evolving area has quickly formed a reputation for its affordability and easy-going lifestyle, and is full of family friendly housing estates with spacious, contemporary and low maintenance homes.
A selection of schools are located in the area, which are complemented by a handful of supermarkets, homeware shops, and department stores, as well as the Tarneit train station.
During the year the developing suburb will also welcome Tarneit Park Hub, a large format retail precinct anchored by Bunnings.
In January, 2021, approval was given to build Wyndham City Stadium, which is set to become home of the Western United Football Club - an A-League team representing the people of Melbourne and Victoria’s west.
Tarneit recorded a population of 34,562 at the 2016 Census, but is estimated to increase to more than 63,000 by 2031.
