Wangaratta
Are you up for the challenge of a kid’s heaven lifestyle and all that Jazz?
Wangaratta
Colonial surveyor Thomas Wedge knew a good thing when he saw it back in 1848, and borrowed from an indigenous language to name "meeting of the waters", as Wangaratta.
Today this regional town, with a growth rate of around half a percent each year, absorbs new folk, slowly and easily, just like the waters of the two rivers (the Ovens and King) as they wind their way through the region.
For families, the weekends are spectacular. You can go hiking, kayaking, rafting, fishing and boating, and look forward to the pizzaz of the annual Jazz Festival.
Commuting is a breeze as you’re plumb bang on the Hume Freeway, and the Melbourne to Sydney rail line, or, if you have the courage, you can amble out to the Wangaratta Aerodrome and ask about the charter and flight training services.
For shopping head to Murphy Street or wander the Post Office arcade Apart from country hospitality, you can pick up a local produce hamper and nosh on with fabulous tucker, knowing you can easily reorder it all again. It comes from local farm producers and wineries!
With a mix of private and public schools, your options are there for the asking.
