A luxurious Wollongong home spent just one week on the market before owners were "stoked" to accept an offer of more than $3 million.

The Woonona four-bedroom, three-bathroom house was snapped up by a local family who were willing to spend $3.025 million to live 200 metres from the beach.

Sales agent Darnell Haselau of Stone Illawarra said the recently rebuilt property attracted strong interest over the week it spent on the market until November 15.

"Everything was top notch, the owners really did spec up the home to a high level," the Stone Real Estate sales executive said.

"There was nothing overlooked, every detail, every light, every piece of tapware, everything was top notch."

Homes in Woonona spend an average of 44 days on the market but the Lassiter Avenue house sold after 11 days.

The sale comes at a time when more than 10 per cent of current homes for sale in the Illawarra have failed to sell after more than 180 days on the market.

The Woonona property owners were "very open" to doing a deal prior to the auction which was scheduled for November 29.

The home was previously sold in 2014 for $737,500 before the owners rebuilt the home entirely two years ago.

Because the home has four separate living spaces, a large outdoor entertaining area with a pool and quality furnishings, Mr Haselau said he saw interest from many local and out-of-town families.

Complete package

"The tricky thing in Woonona East is there are always homes for sale," Mr Haselau said.

"But homes that are completely done with nothing to do, they don't come up often."

But Mr Haselau said he normally recommends owners take the property through the four-week campaign until the auction to achieve the highest price.

"An auction ran well with competing buyers, the sky's the limit," he said.

However, he said the accepted offer was a very strong price for the area.

Woonona has a median house price of $1.37 million according to CoreLogic.

"These owners were very much in the mindset of we'll do a deal prior to and remove the lead up to auction, they were happy to," he said.

"They were happy with the offers we were getting."

Other properties in Woonana have recently sold for millions with one beachfront street being dubbed a 'millionaire's row',

A four-bedroom home opposite Woonona beach at 46 Beach Drive sold for $5.25 million on November 6.

Another property sold for $6.2 million in 2023 in the suburb which has seen an 65 per cent increase in the median change in house values over five years.

Woonona homes spend a median of 45 days on the market according to CoreLogic.
