A sprawling mansion on a rainforest-inspired acreage has returned to market two years after smashing the suburb record in Jewells.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom house at 25 Murray Street is listed for sale by auction with Peter Shiels and Natalie Francis of Shiels and Co Property.

The property set a benchmark in March 2024, topping the Jewells record by $765,000 after it sold for $3.065 million with listing agent Katie Kepner.

Mr Shiels declined to publish a price guide.

He said the listing has generated widespread interest since launching to market on April 8.

"We have had local buyers looking at it, we've had buyers from Sydney and we have one buyer in particular coming up from Melbourne who grew up in Newcastle but is relocating," Mr Shiels said.

"We have a couple of private inspections which we are conducting now.

"It has been an fantastic response and we've only just brought it to market."

The auction will be held on May 9.

Since its construction in 2000, the master-built three-level house has changed hands only twice.

Set on a secluded 2.5-acre block, the home's extensive floorplan spans 886 square metres of internal living area and 1080 square metres including the balconies.

It is about four times the size of a typical house.

It changed hands for the first time in 2024 after it was built by the owners who lived in Valentine before purchasing the land to construct their dream family home.

According to Cotality, the median house value in Jewells is $1.12 million.
